AEW: Fight Forever finally has a release date

AEW: Fight Forever, the professional wrestling game based on the fan-favorite All-Elite Wrestling promotion, finally has a release date. The much-awaited game launches on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series, Xbox One and Steam on June 29.

Announced in April of 2022, AEW Fight Forever puts the AEW’s first video game in the hands of some talented developers. Specifically, it’s being developed veteran pro wrestling video game developer Yukes. On top of this, the game is being directed by Hideyuki “Geta” Iwashita, who previously directed classic pro-wrestling games WWF No Mercy and Def Jam Vendetta.

“When I first signed with AEW, Tony Khan gave me the opportunity to assemble the best gaming team that understands and respects professional wrestling, to make the best wrestling games ever,” stated AEW executive vice president and former World Champion and World Tag Team Champion Kenny Omega. “Thanks to our incredible collaboration with Geta, Yuke’s, and THQ Nordic, a new era of professional wrestling gaming is quickly approaching.”

Omega, real name Tyson Smith, is a known video game fan who’s known for using video game references in his in-ring moves. He added that the game “has exceeded my highest expectations” and was confident that the AEW: Fight Forever release date would be “a momentous day for wrestling fans and gamers alike.”

“Since our initial announcement, fans worldwide have shown unbridled passion around the launch of Fight Forever, and AEW has proven through our exciting storylines and hard-hitting wrestling action that good things come to those who wait,” added AEW CEO, general manager and head of creative Tony Khan. “With Fight Forever, Kenny and our world-class team have delivered an authentic, nostalgic feel of wrestling games past, along with the unmatched creativity that AEW brings to the table.”

“It’s going to be cool to see our fans finally getting a fresh and much-needed alternative next-gen console wrestling game on June 29,” Khan added, in reference to the fact that rival promotion WWE has had a virtual monopoly on pro-wrestling video games in the West with the WWE 2k series.

“AEW has the greatest fans on the planet, and I’m excited for them to experience this new way to engage with our stars,” he added.
