Following a days-long countdown, Streer Fighter 6 was finally revealed by Capcom via a new teaser trailer.
The teaser shows series protagonist Ryu squaring off against newcomer Luke. The latter was the final DLC character for Street Fighter V and was hinted at by Capcom to be important to the new game.
Other details about Street Fighter 6 have yet to be revealed. That said, Capcom’s official site for the game states that more will be revealed later in the summer of 2022—most likely at this year’s Evo tournament, which is taking place at around that time. Street Fighter 6 wasn’t the only game that Capcom revealed. The company also announced a new collection, called the Capcom Fighting Collection.
Set to release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam, the Capcom Fighting Collection brings together 10 classic Capcom fighting games from the 1990s. These include some titles that have never seen released outside of Japan.
The games are:
- Darkstalkers: The Night Warriors
- Night Warriors: Darkstalkers’ Revenge
- Vampire Savior: The Lord of Vampire
- Vampire Hunter 2: Darkstalkers’ Revenge
- Vampire Savior 2: The Lord of Vampire
- Red Earth
- Cyberbots: Fullmetal Madness
- Super Gem Fighter Mini Mix
- Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo
- Hyper Street Fighter II
Of these, Vampire Hunter 2 and Vampire Savior 2 are seeing their western for the first time. Both are updates to Vampire Savior swapping in characters who did not make the cut in that game for technical reasons. Red Earth, on the other hand, has never seen a home release, until now.
All games in the collection will feature online play with modern rollback netcode, as well as a training mode and a host of unlockables. This is a step up from Capcom’s previous collection, the Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection, which only features these for a third of the games in it. The Capcom Fighting Collection is set to release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on June 24, 2022.
