Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is heading to the PS5

Final Fantasy VII Remake is heading to the PlayStation 5.

Square Enix, the company behind the critically acclaimed hit, made the announcement during Sony Interactive Entertainment’s State of Play live stream last week, saying that Final Fantasy VII Remake would be released as the enhanced and expanded Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade made for the PS5

The game takes advantage of the PlayStation 5’s next-gen hardware and features a slew of graphical, gameplay, and system improvements. Here’s a list, from Square Enix:

  • Immerse yourself in the city of Midgar like never before, with improved textures, lighting, and background environments. Players can switch between two game modes:
    • “Graphics Mode” prioritizes 4K high-resolution graphics
    • “Performance Mode” prioritizes smooth action at 60 frames per second
  • Capture and share your memorable moments from the game with a fully customizable “Photo Mode”
  • Enjoy immersive battles by using the DualSense wireless controller, with its haptic feedback integration, and enjoy dynamic bike racing with its adaptive triggers.
  • New difficulty settings for ‘Classic Mode’ provide new ways to play
  • Jump into the action faster with optimized loading times

Players with Final Fantasy VII Remake on their Playstation 4 will get a free PS5 enhancement update, including graphic and gameplay enhancements.

Yuffie is a PS5 exclusive

Long-time fans of the game were delighted to see a familiar face in Final Fantasy Remake Intergrade with Yuffie Kisaragi. However, Square Enix has clarified that Yuffie’s episode is a PS5 exclusive. This means that the only way to play Yuffie is to buy Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade on PS5 or, for PS4 owners, upgrade your version of the game—then purchase the Yuffie Episode as a separate DLC—then play it on the PS5.

It’s also worth noting that Yuffie will make her appearance earlier in the remake, as players will get a chance to follow Yuffie as she infiltrates a mysterious Shinra organization to steal a valuable materia and bring honor to her homeland. Players who pre-order Final Fantasy Remake Intergrade will receive a Cacstar weapon for the latest Yuffie chapter.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade will be released worldwide for the PS5 on June 10, 2021.

New Final Fantasy VII smartphone games also out

If you’re looking for Final Fantasy VII-related stuff to do while waiting for Intergrade—Square Enix has released two new smartphone games set in the Final Fantasy VII universe. Final Fantasy VII The First Solider is a battle royale strategy game set in Midgar before the game’s events. Players get to be a SOLDIER candidate and get to use magic and abilities for their survival.

Meanwhile, Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis is a single-player adventure that will cover the whole of the Final Fantasy VII timeline, including its compilation titles and new story elements from the remake. The game will also include a story by Final Fantasy Remake writer Kazushige Nojima regarding the history of SOLDIER. More details on the two games will be announced at a later date.
