Marvel’s Avengers releases War for Wakanda expansion

Black Panther is now coming to Marvel’s Avengers with the “War for Wakanda” expansion.

Last week, Square Enix announced that Marvel’s Avengers Expansion: “Black Panther – War for Wakanda” is now available as a free upgrade to all owners of the core game.

The king of Wakanda is the game’s ninth playable superhero. In addition, the expansion adds two new villains, a brand-new environment to explore, new enemies, as well as the Birnin Zana Outpost. It also adds the most content to the game since its launch, with the addition of the new solo or multiplayer Drop Zone, Threat Section missions, and more.

“The War for Wakanda Expansion is the biggest and best update we’ve ever made to Marvel’s Avengers,” explained Scot Amos, studio co-head at Crystal Dynamics. “We’re proud to be able to deliver all this new content for free for everyone who owns the game. Combined with the new features we’ve added and improvements we’ve made since launch, there’s never been a better time to be a Marvel’s Avengers player.”

On August 16, Marvel’s Avengers released the War Table for Wakanda as part of the what to expect with the new expansion.

The expansion adds to a full game and continues the plot started with the “Reassemble” story campaign. Marvel’s Avengers now offers multiple campaigns, nine playable heroes, and unlimited multiplayer cooperation for up to four people.

Aside from the new expansion for Wakanda, Square Enix also released a new digital version of the game. Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame Edition provides users access to the game’s free content, as well as other scenes from Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Endgame.

The expansion will focus on the Black Panther, King T’Challa, the protector of Wakanda. The game, in fact, takes players to the War for Wakanda, where archvillain Klaw threatens the security of the country. To protect his nation, T’Challa must now fight to protect it all, even as betrayals and tragedies blindside him. (Read: Square Enix developing Guardians of the Galaxy game)

Players will find themselves in the lush Wakanda jungle – the lone location of vibranium, the most valuable resource in the world. A new outpost will also be added, which contains Shuri’s laboratory, Zawavari’s rooms, and the Wakandan War Room. In addition, they can explore the Royal Palace, overlooking Birnin Zana, known as ‘The Golden City.’
