Persona 5 Strikers coming to the west with a PC port

While there are no official word for a Persona 5 port on PC, players on the platform will soon enjoy Persona 5’s spinoff: Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers. Released earlier this year in Japan, a western port of the game called Persona 5 Strikers has been confirmed as coming to PC—as well as PS4 and Switch— on February 23, 2021.

Leaks and rumors were already all over the internet as early as November when a number of Asian retailers showed listings for an English Version of the Persona 5 spinoff game. According to a report by Nintendolife, Singapore retailers Toy or Game and Qisahn, as well as Indonesia’s PS Enterprise, listed Persona 5 Strikers as releasing next February.

These leaks all came to head when Atlus themselves “accidentally” leaked the trailer via unlisted video on their youtube channel earlier this month. While it took the devs less than a day to take the video down from their page, mirrors were persistently reposted throughout the realm of the internet. It may seem that they were waiting for The Game Awards to have the trailer uploaded but have accidentally shared the unlisted video after the upload.

In response to the leaks Atlus’ Twitter account posted a tweet confirming that the video was legitimate and that an official announcement about the game will be made on December 8.

The tweet has already gathered more than 20 thousand likes and more than 7,500 retweets with fans showing anticipation and excitement for the title finally coming to the Western audience and will be available on multiple gaming platforms including the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and in a shocking turn of events, PC via Steam.

The Steam launch for this title will be the first of its kind for the title as its Japanese counterpart, Persona 5 Scramble did not have a PC release when it launched last February earlier this year.

Moreover, while the game in itself is a “spinoff” of Persona 5, a lot of the game is highly resemblant to the source material, from its protagonists and casts, to its story progression and much of the features of Persona 5’s aesthetics now amped up with real-time hack-and-slash gameplay that’s highly synonymous with titles such as Dragon Quest Heroes and Hyrule Warriors which are Developed by Omega Force. Omega Force has also partnered with Atlus for Persona 5 Strikers.

With Atlus’ announcement date and even The Game Awards right around the corner, fans have already built an insurmountable hype and anticipation for the grand reveal which ironically blew no thanks to the mishap. Leaks aside, Persona fans will be able to play The Phantom Thieves in what would probably be the best possible setup and gaming experience that PC gaming has to offer.
