Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon has a release date
After months of waiting, FromSoftware and Bandai Namco Games finally revealed the Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon release date. The long awaited sequel to the stories mecha action franchise arrives on PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series consoles and PC on August 25, 2023
The reveal of the release date came alongside a new gameplay trailer. The trailer confirms what FromSoft has stated before—Armored Core VI is not a “Soulsborne” game like the studio’s most recent releases, such as Elden Ring and the Dark Souls franchise.
Instead, what looks to be the player’s mech flies and zooms all over the battleground, sending barrages of bullets and missiles at opponents. That said, the trailer does show that the game borrows at least one element from FromSoft’s “Soulsborne” style titles—the latters’ epic boss fights against gigantic bosses, this time in the form of giant mechanical bosses.
In addition to showing off how the game will play, the new Armored Core VI gameplay trailer also gives some hits about the game’s story.
It seems that the player character—called “augmented human C4621 in the trailer—is a mercenary working under an “infamous handler” named Walter. In addition, said pilot is apparently also using the callsign “Raven”—an important designation in the series—which they apparently borrowed from someone else.
Beyond that, not much else is revealed. This is FromSoft, after all, a studio known for restraint when it comes to the lore of their games, choosing instead to have the player learn it as they play.
With this in mind, it’s guaranteed that there will be a lot more to learn about Armored Core VI as its August 25, 2023 release date approaches. In the meantime, watch the new gameplay trailer below.
