Horizon Zero Dawn’s Aloy is coming to Genshin Impact

Aloy, the protagonist of action RPG Horizon: Zero Dawn and its upcoming sequel Horizon: Forbidden West, is coming to free-to-play RPG Genshin Impact.

Through its official gaming community HoYoLAB and Genshin Impact‘s official social media accounts, developer MiHoYo released details about Aloy’s inclusion in the game.

The “Savior From Another World” and “Nora Huntress” will be a 5-star, Cryo-type characters.

The accompanying art reveals Aloy’s in-game appearance and weapon: the bow, which is her primary choice of ranged weapon in her original game.

Although Aloy has many outfits in her original game, it’s her default Nora Brave outfit has made it into Genshin. She is still seen with freckles and long red hair pulled back with braids on the sides and in the back.

Aloy’s storyline in Genshin Impact was revealed to take place after the events of the first Horizon game.

“She thought that this would be the end of her journey. But there is always more to an adventurer’s tale. She has now come to Teyvat in search of new challenges. In this brave new world, Aloy is ready for the hunt!” read her official character overview posted by MiHoYo. (Read: Honkai Impact 3rd reveals more details on Genshin Impact crossover)

To play as the event-exclusive character, travelers must have reached Adventure Rank 20 or above before obtaining Aloy directly through in-game mail.

Aloy is a timed exclusive for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. For both video game consoles, the character will become obtainable after Genshin Impact‘s 2.1 updates up to the start of the version 2.2 maintenance (expected at 5:59 p.m. on October 13, 2021, in the Philippines). During the event, all travelers who log into Genshin Impact on the PS4 and PS5 system will be able to access Aloy via in-game mail.

The Horizon character will only be obtainable for every other available platform after the 2.2 updates up to the start of version 2.3 maintenance (expected at 5:59 p.m. on November 24, 2021, in the Philippines). Within this period, travelers who have yet to obtain Aloy during the initial phase will be able to access her via in-game mail.

To scale, Genshin Impact‘s latest patch is the newly-released version 2.0 “The Immovable God and the Eternal Euthymia” update. MiHoYo usually updates the game at six-week intervals.

Genshin Impact is available to play on Android, iOS, Windows, PS4, and PS5. It will also come to Nintendo Switch in the future, MiHoYo officially announced before the game’s September 2020 release.

Horizon: Zero Dawn, meanwhile, is playable on PS4 and Windows. Its sequel is expected to be released sometime in 2021 for PS4 and PS5.

In Horizon, players can choose between three different categories of skills to customize gameplay styles: Prowler (stealth), Brave (combat), and Forager (survival). Moreover, Aloy can wield a spear, her default melee weapon, instead of a bow.

“An outcast since birth, Aloy grew up in a harsh mountain wilderness near the tribe that shunned her. Fostered by an expert hunter, she trained to hunt with cat-like grace and deadly accuracy,” read Aloy’s character overview.
