Tekken 7 Polish character Lidia is coming March 23

After teasing her last February, Bandai Namco has finally revealed the details about Tekken 7 polish character Lidia Sobieska. The character, who is the Polish Prime Minister in the game, arrives on both PC and consoles on March 23.

Lidia’s teaser trailer first dropped last February 21 during the second Japan Fighting Game Publisher Roundtable stream. This event gathered prominent Japanese fighting game developers including Capcom, Arc System Works, and of course Bandai Namco, which was represented by Katsuhiro Harada, the chief producer and director of the Tekken Series. Each publisher then took turns in discussing the latest developments and updates for the Fighting Game Community and their respective published titles. Following this, Bandai Namco revealed more about Lidia through a press kit that Bandai Namco sent out to multiple community figures last week. One of these, Tekken competitive player and commentator Reepal “Rip” Parbhoo tweeted the contents of the package, which contained merch including a hoodie, a facemask, a karate black which hints the fighting style of the character, a belt bearing the fighter’s name “Lidia” and a letter addressed to Lidia which was supposedly written by Heihachi.

The letter, which was written in a passive-aggressive manner, had Heihachi strongly declining Lidia’s request of having the Tekken Forces withdrawn from Poland. Heihachi then expressed his admiration of “her ascension” to the prime minister post at such a young age while also reassuring that if Lidia “cooperates” with his ambitions, Mishima Zaibatsu will bring “strong support” in her home country.

Heihachi then reiterated the possible consequences of rejecting his offer and has invited Lidia to enter the King of Iron First Tournament should she have any objection and propose directly to Heihachi in person.

The addition of Tekken 7 Polish character Lidia continues Bandai Namco’s trend of introducing even more diverse characters and fighting styles from different countries around the world. Following the release of Leeroy from the U.S., Fahkumram from Thailand, Claudio from Italy, Shaheen from Saudi Arabia, Katarina from Brazil and even our very own Josie Rizal, it’s a toss-up between who and what country Tekken 7’s next fighter will hail from.

Lidia Sobieska will form part of DLC 18/19 of Season Pass 4 to be released around early spring this year. She’s set to arrive on Tekken 7 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on March 23.

In the meantime, check out Lidia’s launch trailer below.
